About us
Two childhood friends, a bridge, and a conviction: organisations develop through people — never in spite of them.
The name is Hisingen + Island. The symbol is a bridge.
Two childhood friends played handball together as teenagers on Hisingen. Twenty years later they met again — and built Hisland. The negative space in the logo is the Älvsborg Bridge: the one that connects the island to the mainland, and people to one another.
The road here wasn’t straight. We have fallen, adapted and risen again. That is why we know sustainable development begins from within — we have made the journey ourselves.

The founder
Founder & CEO
Jörgen grew up on Hisingen and learned early, on the handball court, that teams beat talent. A mechanical engineer, he founded Himec Engineering around 2005 and has led the company through every transformation — engineering, software, crisis and comeback.
Today he runs Hisland as a management consultancy built on self-leadership and co-creating capability — the same team feeling that once carried a small handball side to the top.
We’re just two guys from Hisingen. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our values
Correct
Proven method, honest craft. We don’t promise more than we keep.
Charismatic
People with both heart and mind. Competence with emotional intelligence.
Creative
Explorers and rebels. We rethink when needed — Eternal Evolution.
Our culture
We believe in people before profit. In room for ideas to grow. And in using what we teach our clients on ourselves first.
We call ourselves Hislanders — and we try the method on ourselves before we carry it out to anyone else. There is room here for curiosity, for mistakes and for new ideas; that is how we keep developing too. Room to Rise isn’t a perk, it’s the condition for people daring to grow.

Our journey
Hisingen
Two friends from Hisingen — handball teammates under coach Per-Anders Lindfeldt, who taught them that the whole can be far greater than the sum of its parts. That lesson became Hisland’s DNA.
c. 2005
Jörgen Björk starts Himec Engineering on his own, on a simple belief: world-class engineering takes more than technical skill — it takes leadership, emotional intelligence and genuine human connection.
2015
Himec grows beyond mechanics into software and systems and becomes Hisland Solutions — now with a partner at Jörgen’s side, a broader vision and a deeper commitment to sustainable innovation.
2016–2020
We built a leadership programme, recruited global talent, and became known for our Hislander culture — engineers who think like entrepreneurs and inspire like leaders. In 2018 we were named a DI Gasell.
2020–2024
COVID hit hard. Bankruptcy followed. But like Hisingen itself we adapted — rebuilt as Helics, fought back, and in 2024 Jörgen raised it anew — on his own — as Hisland Sweden: stronger, wiser, more focused.
Today
Hisland develops sustained peak performance through self-leadership — from the individual to the organisation.
Forward
We never stop evolving. That goes for us — and for every organisation we walk beside.

Case histories
Before self-leadership, we cut our teeth on hard technical work — for demanding clients across energy, marine and industry. The traces remain.
